Five Essential Oils to Help Lift Your Mood

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

Therapeutic grade essential oils

Whether it is the winter blues, a slight melancholy feeling, grief, loneliness or just feeling downright blah, there is an essential oil that you can utilise to help give yourself a lift. Personally, I use my oils regularly and they have helped me tremendously in times of stress or feeling a little bit blue.

Please do not use oils directly on skin undiluted or ingest them.

Bergamot essential oil for depression
Bergamot

Bergamot is cold pressed using the fruit from the tree. It is used to help with anxiety and stress and lift a melancholy mood. It is a mood lifter in times of feeling helpless or hopeless. Bergamot is useful to help achieve a restful sleep.

Be cautious when applying this essential oil to the skin as it can be sun sensitive. Use a few drops in bath, or diffuser. For massage use 10 ml of carrier oil (I use Avocado oil) and 5 drops of Bergamot essential oil.

Essential oils for nerves
Chamomile (Roman)

This herb was sacred to the Saxons and has been used for centuries. It is useful for muscular pain and to ease anxiety and nervous tension. Chamomile has a sedative effect and helps aid relaxation and sleep. Also useful for relieving anger, fear, grief worry and promoting spirituality.
