Making Change Happen

Making Change Happen

I recently achieved something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I left Sydney and moved to a seaside country town. Prior to moving to my new place, I lived smack in the heart of Sydney's inner city living. I lived in Potts Point, but to be honest it was really living in Kings Cross, Sydney's seedy red light and drug district. There is just one street called Kings Cross, and I lived just below that street by one block. The Kings Cross strip is to me, a very depr

When Journalists Are So Selfish They Think Only About Their Fame

I often wonder what is wrong with people on this planet? What I mean by that is; why do some people never consider others? Why do some people never think about how their behaviour affects others? What sort of person goes out to destroy another person's life? In particular we seem to be living in an age now that there is no respect or privacy for anyone when it comes to online or news. These days we are subjected to photos of murders, terrorism, victims of bombs, nudity, and

The Privilege of a Lifetime is Being Who You Are.

The Privilege of a lifetime is being who you are is a quote by Joseph Campbell and it really resonates with me. It resonates because I love myself not in a vain way, but self-love - an appreciation of all that is me. When I was in my early 20's I began reading books on spirituality, law of attraction and positive mindset. So that's actually 30 years of knowledge that I have gained and experience so far in my life. I have also had many hard life lessons as well as many beautif

Embrace the good with the bad and try to go with the flow

How many times have you said to yourself on New Year's Day "thank God that year is over"? It's a habit many of us probably have stating that the year just gone was quite frankly "bloody awful". I'm certainly guilty as charged, however this year I really thought about what I was thinking and realised that I was focusing on the terrible things that happened, rather than all the good things. One thing I have learnt in my years is to embrace the good with the bad and realise tha

Take The Good With The Bad

Photo Instagram I live in an area, which you couldn’t really call peaceful and tranquil. It’s near Kings Cross in Sydney a place known for drugs, violence, alcohol and prostitution. I don’t actually live in the suburb but I am very close and get a lot of passing traffic from the nightclubs. It can pretty horrible I have to say, but like I say to people, I have chosen to live here and I have to take the good with the bad. Actually there is a lot of good; I live close to the ci

Four Morning Habits To Help Make Your Day Happy

It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut of not wanting to get up and go to work, even I have those days and I work for myself; in fact my office is in my house. What I have found in my life is that when I am organized and stick to a routine in the mornings, things seem to flow the right way during the day. These are my tips on setting good morning rituals. GET OUT OF BED! As soon as that alarm bell goes off, jump out of bed with excitement. Now I know that can be really hard, but

Where Did All Those Years Go?

Photo: Me a few weeks ago flying through the Central Coast 1 km Zip Line. An example of making the most of every opportunity. As I write this post on the last day of 2015 I look back at my time on this planet and wonder how did it pass so quickly? I was thinking last night about a time when I was just sixteen years old. I was sitting on bus in Dunedin, New Zealand on my way home from school. I distinctly remember looking at the woman in front of me, who I thought was about t

Live your life for you.

One of the biggest life lessons is to follow your life purpose and be successful; you need to do what you want, what makes you happy, and not be a people pleaser. You can still live your life for yourself and be spiritual, caring and on the right path. I am not implying that you need to be selfish. Many people feel they have to live their lives a certain way because they will offend or upset others if they don't. Maybe it could be your parents, teacher, mentor, friend, or an

Finding Joy When Times are Tough

At the time of writing this, my family is going through a rough time. Four years ago our mother suffered a stroke which left her quite disabled. Since then she has had two further strokes, two collapsed lungs and now is bedridden with emphysema after years of smoking. I have never smoked in my life and seriously can’t understand why anyone would pollute their bodies with this poison. I can assure you watching someone suffer from emphysema is harrowing. However this is not a b

Mother Nature the Stress Fixer

If I find myself in a stage of worry, pressure or overload I have the perfect solution; I go to nature. I find that once I am amongst trees and plants I can feel the energy from them, it literally washes over me like a cleansing cascading waterfall. This morning was one of those days that I felt a little overwhelmed as I have some issues going on with my parents health, business is going through a change that I’m trying to hurry along and so was feeling stressed. It is in the

Gratitude: A story of 'what if'

I imagined what if I had died, and my soul had gone to the Big Pearly Gates and God, Source, Creator or whatever you call the entity that is responsible for this Universe said to me: “Well Deb, how was it down there?” I replied, “Not bad really, but I spent a lot of time being unhappy because I let too many things worry me, like grey skies, people who let me down, trains being late, traffic jams, you know what I mean God”. Then God replied “Well that was a bit of a waste of

In Sickness and in Health

As I write this I feel very sad. I have just returned from Christmas with my family and my mother is extremely sick. To date she has had three strokes, numerous lung problems and suffering from emphysema as a result of 70 years of heavy smoking. I think mum’s smoking was what make me decide when I was a little girl that I would never smoke, and I haven never in my whole life even tried a puff. Mum can’t walk without assistance, she can’t read or concentrate enough to do puzzl
